Go to the MyGNOSS menu and clicking on the tab 'Communities'. You will see the full list of communities. All of them are tagged, so if you click on any of the tags that most interest you, GNOSS will show you the communities that have been described with that tag.

Have you found any community that is interesting for you? If so, you have no excuse to become a member of it (if it is public) or to request your access to it (if it is restricted or private). Just click on the name of the community and send your request. Once inside the community, if you take a tour through it you will see the recent  activity of the community and who is taking part in it.
